FreesBee is an app that gives free rides to people who dine in and drink at the restaurants with the express goal of reducing drunk driving accidents and saving lives.

As much as 32 people die every day in the United States as a result of a drunk driving accident, a figure that is equivalent to a person dying every 45 minutes. This distressing statistics has given birth to concerned individuals setting up rallies and organizations to curb incidences of drunk driving but still the problem persists. Akin Nefesogullari has, however, devised a one-of-a-kind solution to put a stop to this menace.

Akin is the founder of FreesBee, a company using technology to lessen drunk driving in the society. He ventured into this path after being convinced that it is his life’s mission to significantly reduce drunk driving accidents and deaths.

According to the entrepreneur, “I feel a pit in my stomach every time I hear about another life senselessly lost due to drunk driving, which is far too often. I refuse to turn a blind eye to this tragedy that has such a simple solution: Don’t get behind the wheel while under the influence. That’s exactly why I started the company FreesBee in 2018, and since then, my team and I have worked tirelessly to get our program up and running and implement a new technologically-savvy way to approach the fatal issue of drunk driving.”

FreesBee has a unique model that takes the decision-making process out of the equation for consumer’s planning to go out and have some drinks. The company will partner with local restaurants to offer free rides to customers. Speaking on what sets this model apart from Uber and Lyft, Akin says, “We make the consumer’s night out seamless from the start. With FreesBee, there is no excuse to drink and drive. By partnering with local restaurants, we offer a cost-effective and convenient approach to catching a ride. We eliminate the decision-making process, and in turn, we save lives.”

Akin believes that this approach will make cities safer. As he puts it, “We believe a life is worth far more than a $15 (average) Uber ride. Unfortunately, when it comes down to it, often a consumer does not want to spend even that amount extra after an expensive night out. That $15 ride can end up costing someone their life. We are here to change that.”

To that end, FreesBee has launched a gofundme so that it can make its mission a reality with the help of other concerned individuals. “On behalf of FreesBee, I am asking for donations that are much needed in order to complete the development of our life-saving apps. Our goal is to use technology to do good and save lives, and that is only possible if we are able to raise the necessary funds for our company,” Akin says.

FreesBees already has positive reviews from people that have used its service. According to one, “FreesBees is like an all-inclusive resort. Your ride to the restaurant is scheduled and seamlessly easy.”

Akin further speaks about the future of the company, “By 2027, our projections indicate that 50 states will have access to FreesBee with 21M active users. That means 2.73M DUI-related accidents can be prevented, decreasing DUI arrests and saving more than 230 lives from being killed due to drunk driving. We can save those family members the grief that results from losing a loved one.”

Supporting this worthy cause is as simple as visiting FreesBees’ gofundme page and making a donation.
